Changelog

1.0.5 (2026-10-13)

  • Countinghouse opens from the hub. Its tile is no longer Coming Soon: the app keeps the list of businesses contacted, follow-ups, jobs and money in and out.

1.0.4 (2026-10-12)

  • Clearer What's new lists. The change list of every app was rewritten as a plain list of what was added, changed and fixed.

1.0.3 (2026-10-12)

Edition pills in their own colours.

  • Free Edition is green, Pro Edition is gold, the Education Licence is blue and Commercial Edition is red. Only Founders keeps the violet. It is the same everywhere a pill shows: beside an app's name, in the top bar, on the Licence page and in its table.
  • The hub in a browser (the Chromebook version) uses the same four colours on its edition label.
  • Gable 0.0.3-alpha opens from its tile.

1.0.2 (2026-10-12)

  • Pegline 0.0.1-alpha, the task boards, opens from its tile (it was Coming Soon).
  • Farthing is now Countinghouse. Same tile and logo, still Coming Soon.
  • Gable 0.0.2-alpha opens from its tile.

1.0.1 (2026-10-12)

Six new tiles.

  • Gable 0.0.1-alpha, the 3D builder, opens from its tile.
  • Coming Soon: Folio (PDF files), Pegline (task boards), Farthing (quotes, invoices and simple books), Sprout (first steps in coding) and Slate (a whiteboard). Names and logos are first picks: Pegline stands in for Trellis and Farthing for Ledger.

1.0.0 (2026-10-12)

The hub as the installer for a fresh computer. It is a test build: not signed, not released.

  • Install source. It looks for a folder named NylonLabs Install on every drive (a USB stick, for example), or you choose a folder or a web address on the About page.
  • Checks before anything is installed. The app list is signed; a changed list is refused. Each setup file is checked against its SHA-256; a file that does not match is refused and nothing is installed.
  • Licence page: Add licence file. The file is checked on the computer. Zoetrope needs the Commercial Edition or the Education Licence; the three office apps are free for everyone and say so.
  • Each app is its own program with its own setup and uninstaller (per user, no admin rights). The hub only runs them.
  • Install from a web address. The About page takes a web address as well as a folder, for when the apps are on another computer or a server.
  • In a browser. On a Chromebook, or any computer without the Windows hub, the hub is a web page with the same four apps and the same licence files.
  • The hub can update itself from the same source when a newer hub setup is there (not tried yet: there is no newer hub to test with).

0.7.4-beta (2026-10-12)

  • Two new Coming Soon apps, with placeholder names and logos you can change: Podium (slides and presentations) and Breadboard (robotics: draw a virtual circuit, test it, run it on an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi).

0.7.3-beta (2026-10-12)

  • Zoetrope is on the first row of the Default look, where Exodia Engine was. Exodia Engine takes Zoetrope's old place under All apps. The other looks list the apps in the same order.

0.7.2-beta (2026-10-11)

  • Zoetrope's name is shown in its own lettering (the slanted comic capitals with the pink-to-orange fade) as the large name at the top of the Default look. The small tiles, the other looks and the desktop widget keep the normal lettering.

0.7.1-beta (2026-10-11)

  • Widget settings. The ⚙ button on the widget opens its settings: tick the apps you want on it and pick the view. Your picks are remembered.
  • Detailed view. The ☰ button (or the setting) swaps the icons for long cards, one per app, with its description, its version and its own background waves, which flow while the pointer is over the widget. More than four cards scroll.
  • The hub is on the widget too, as the first tile; a green dot shows while it is open (from the next time the hub is started).
  • The widget changes its height to fit what it shows.

0.7.0-beta (2026-10-11)

  • Desktop widget. A small panel for the desktop with every built app as an icon: click one to open it, a green dot marks the apps that are open, and the count is at the top. Drag it by its top edge to where you want it; it remembers the place. ⌂ opens the hub, ✕ closes the widget. It runs on its own, with or without the hub open. Open it with the NylonLabs Widget shortcut on the Desktop (or NylonLabs.exe --widget). It is its own small window, not a card in the Windows Widgets board (Win+W): that needs a signed, packaged app and is a separate job.

0.6.9-beta (2026-10-11)

  • New app: Zoetrope (0.1.0), the home of the films made with code. It is in All apps under Ready, with its own logo (a zoetrope drum).

0.6.6-beta (2026-10-10)

  • Two new tiles, both Coming Soon: Scribe, a text and PDF document editor (the nib logo), and Lattice, a spreadsheet (the stacked sheets logo). Desktop only.

0.6.3-beta (2026-10-10)

  • Default look: each app's block on the shelf shows its version number in the top right corner.

0.6.2-beta (2026-10-10)

  • The hub now opens in the Default look. It switches to Default once on this update; a look you pick afterwards is remembered as before.

0.6.1-beta (2026-10-09)

  • Looks renamed: Clean is now Default and Nylon is now Orbit (top right). Your saved look carries over. The hub still opens in Orbit on a PC with no saved look.

0.6.0-beta (2026-10-09)

  • Idle screen: when the hub is in focus and there is no mouse or keyboard input for about 25 seconds, the cards and text slowly fade out and only the flowing artwork is left, in the colours of the app in view. Any input brings everything back.

0.5.3-beta (2026-10-09)

  • Clean: the moving background pauses while the hub is hidden or out of focus and runs at 30 fps, so it no longer holds the graphics card while the Studio generates.

0.5.2-beta (2026-10-08)

  • Clean: the background of the app you are viewing now moves like that app's splash screen: flowing ribbons, drifting glows and twinkling stars in the app's colours.

0.5.1-beta (2026-10-08)

  • The Orbit look is now called Nylon and is the hub's default. The Console look is now called Clean, and Classic stays too (all three top right). Editorial is removed. Hovering an app slows the orbit by 60% instead of stopping it.
  • Clean: an app with its own icon (Atlas, XGallery, SporeLog, NHS Panel) shows that icon beside its name, and Atlas shows its name as it looks inside the app.

0.5.0-beta (2026-10-08)

  • Three new looks for the whole hub to compare, switched from the top right and remembered: Console (the picked app fills the window with its name, art and latest changes; every app is a poster on a shelf along the bottom; arrow keys browse, Enter opens), Editorial (a light printed contents page with numbered rows and the picked app as the feature) and Orbit (the hub in the middle, ready apps circling on the inner ring and apps in development on the outer one). Classic keeps the old tiles and side rail.
  • The picked app shows its newest changelog entry without opening What's new.

0.4.2-beta (2026-10-08)

  • Three more Coming Soon tiles: XGallery and SporeLog (the desktop versions, in development) and NHS Panel (beta) (the panel for nylonhosting.org), each with its own symbol instead of a two-letter mark.

0.4.1-beta (2026-10-08)

  • Apps page uses the whole window: four cards per row on a wide screen, a slimmer welcome banner and shorter cards, so all eight apps show without scrolling at 1920x1080.

0.4.0-beta (2026-10-08)

  • New app tile: NylonLabs - Atlas (business planner), with its compass-and-star symbol in place of letters.
  • Apps can have a symbol logo (brand/logos.mjs) on their tile, splash and exe icon.

0.3.0-beta (2026-10-07)

  • App versions (all 0.x) and a What's new button on each app card that shows its changelog.
  • Construct and Railway shown as Coming Soon.

0.2.0-beta (2026-10-07)

  • FOUNDERS EDITION in purple.
  • Signed offline licences with Free/Pro/Commercial/Founders editions.
  • Honeycomb logo (B3).

0.1.0-beta (2026-10-06)

  • Boot splashes.
  • Editions.
  • Renamed from NylLabs.
